Moreover, air enters the respiratory system through the nose or mouth and then passes through the trachea. This tubular structure carries air toward the lungs. In addition, the trachea contains rings of cartilage that help keep the airway open and allow air to move freely.

Afterwards, the trachea divides into two primary bronchi, one leading to the right lung and the other to the left lung. These bronchi represent the main airways that carry air into each lung. As a result, air can be distributed efficiently to both lungs.

Furthermore, inside the lungs, the bronchi continue to branch into smaller airways called secondary bronchi and later into bronchioles. Because of this progressive branching, air can reach all regions of lung tissue.

On the other hand, bronchioles end in tiny air sacs known as alveoli. Within these structures, gas exchange occurs. Oxygen passes from the air into the bloodstream, while carbon dioxide is removed during exhalation.

In addition, the lungs contain millions of alveoli that greatly increase the surface area for gas exchange. Consequently, the body can obtain the oxygen required for normal cellular function.

Finally, understanding the relationship between the bronchi and the lungs is essential for studying how the respiratory system works. Furthermore, anatomical illustrations help clearly visualize how air moves through the respiratory airways into the lungs.
