Air begins its path in the trachea, a tube that connects the larynx to the lungs. Then, the trachea divides into two main bronchi, one leading to the right lung and the other to the left lung.

Afterward, each main bronchus branches into secondary bronchi. These branches enter different regions of the lungs, allowing air to reach each lung section.

Next, the secondary bronchi continue dividing into smaller tubes called bronchioles. In this way, air is distributed efficiently within the lungs.

The bronchioles carry air toward the pulmonary alveoli, which are small air sacs located inside the lungs. In these sacs, gas exchange takes place between air and blood.

During this process, oxygen moves from the alveoli into the blood capillaries. Meanwhile, carbon dioxide moves from the blood into the alveoli.

Later, carbon dioxide leaves the body during exhalation. Therefore, the bronchial tree plays a key role in transporting air through the lungs.

Furthermore, the branching structure of the bronchial tree increases the area through which air can travel. For this reason, the respiratory system functions efficiently.
