Next, the light travels through the lens, a flexible structure located behind the iris. The lens has the ability to change its shape slightly. This process, known as accommodation, allows the eye to focus on objects at different distances.

When viewing a nearby object, the lens becomes more curved to focus the image correctly. In contrast, when looking at distant objects, the lens becomes flatter. As a result, the image is projected accurately onto the retina.

The retina, located at the back of the eye, contains photoreceptor cells known as rods and cones. These cells convert light into electrical signals. Afterward, these signals are transmitted to the brain through the optic nerve.

Finally, the brain processes the signals and creates visual perception. As a result, we are able to distinguish shapes, colors, and fine details.
