First, the cornea is a transparent structure located at the front of the eyeball. Its main function is to allow light to enter the eye. Moreover, the curvature of the cornea contributes to the refraction of light, bending incoming light rays so they can be directed toward internal eye structures.

Afterward, light passes through the pupil, which is the central opening of the iris. The cornea works together with the lens, a flexible structure located behind the iris, to focus light onto the retina. In this way, clear images are formed and later interpreted by the brain.

In addition to its optical function, the cornea also provides important protection. Therefore, it acts as a barrier against dust, microorganisms, and other external particles that could damage internal eye structures.

On the other hand, the iris is the colored part of the eye and lies behind the cornea. The iris contains muscles that control the size of the pupil. As a result, it regulates how much light enters the eye depending on environmental lighting conditions.

When light levels are high, the iris contracts to reduce the size of the pupil. Conversely, in low-light conditions the pupil dilates to allow more light into the eye. This mechanism enables the visual system to adapt to different levels of brightness.

Together, the cornea and iris play a crucial role in visual physiology. Consequently, these structures regulate light entry and contribute to the formation of clear images on the retina.
