Next is the muscular layer of the stomach. This layer is composed of smooth muscle fibers arranged in different directions. Therefore, it allows the stomach to perform mixing and churning movements.

During these movements, food mixes with gastric juices, forming a semi-liquid substance called chyme. Then, the chyme gradually moves into the small intestine, where digestion continues.

Finally, the outermost layer is the serosa, which is part of the visceral peritoneum. In addition, this layer protects the stomach and allows smooth movement within the abdominal cavity.
