First of all, the human respiratory system is composed of several organs that allow the intake of oxygen and the removal of carbon dioxide. Therefore, this system is essential for maintaining vital body functions.

Moreover, the respiratory process begins when air enters the body through the nose or mouth. Afterwards, the air passes through the pharynx and larynx, and then reaches the trachea. This tubular structure acts as the main airway that carries air toward the lungs.

Next, the trachea divides into two primary bronchi, which transport air into each lung. Furthermore, inside the lungs the bronchi continue branching into smaller passages called bronchioles. Because of this progressive branching, air can be distributed throughout the lung tissue.

On the other hand, bronchioles end in small air sacs known as alveoli. Within these structures, gas exchange occurs. Oxygen enters the bloodstream while carbon dioxide is removed from the body during exhalation.

In addition, the diaphragm plays a crucial role in breathing. This muscle is located below the lungs and participates in respiratory movements. During inhalation, the diaphragm contracts and moves downward. Consequently, the thoracic cavity expands and allows air to enter the lungs.

Finally, understanding the human respiratory system is essential for studying how the body obtains oxygen for vital functions. Furthermore, anatomical illustrations help visualize the structure and function of this system.
